Herbarium creations are back at the Maison Saint Joseph! Whilst flowers have long held a place in the aesthetics of romance, modern writers have reimagined them in literature and have gradually come to understand what they mean to them. ‘She said she would buy the flowers herself.’ “What do flowers represent in a person’s life?” asked Virginia Woolf in Mrs Dalloway.
Flowers: they are the petals, the colours, the textures, the arrangements… a tangle of elements creating a perfect unity… that of a composition which questions its refuge. Its identity. Its past, its very being. Its desires. Its dreams.
And why not come and daydream for an afternoon? A herbarium is about stopping time, freezing a moment, a day, a part of who we are, for a long time to come. It is, in a way, a whole life condensed into a single day…

Originally from the Oise region, she grew up surrounded by nature, which fostered her love of flowers, plants, poetry and beautiful things from a very early age. A graphic designer by trade and passionate about all things related to the visual arts, she enjoys exploring different forms of creativity, particularly in the field of craftsmanship. For the past few years, she has been developing a practice centred on pressed flowers and herbariums, which she is keen to share through friendly workshops. This is an activity she first pursued in Paris, before returning to the Oise with the desire to once again share this craft in a gentle, welcoming way.
In 2026, Lucie named her botanical project ‘Édition Papillon’ as a tribute to her career as a graphic designer and to the fleeting nature of the beautiful things we wish we could keep for a lifetime.

Workshop duration: 3 hours (presentation, pressing, collage and tea time)
Up to 8 participants per workshop
Suitable for ages 8 and over; children must be accompanied by an adult, who must also book a place.
The workshop is divided into two parts: Lucie will teach you techniques for pressing and preserving fresh flowers. You will then create your own unique herbarium using a wide selection of pre-pressed and dried flowers, whilst enjoying a cup of homemade tea.
You will take home your herbarium in A4 format, with the option to have it framed for an additional €10 (please bring cash).

– guidance from Lucie, a botanical artist;
– all the necessary materials: dried flowers, a press, glue, paper and scissors;
