what is a writing residency according to us?
msj writing residency is open to all authors and creators who wish to advance their screenplay projects (TV, film), literary projects (novels, graphic novels), or music album projects in the rewriting phase, regardless of the stage they are in.
In a peaceful and inspiring setting, various spaces are available to foster creation and to establish bridges for discussion and sharing on each other’s projects: workshop, garden, library, living room, exhibition room, and kitchen.
Drawing, painting, cooking, pottery, walks in the forest or in the historical centre of Crépy-en-Valois are also available to help write on the move or simply to recharge.
Key moments of collective writing are organised within the program to facilitate rewriting through reading committees accompanied by a consultant. Other exercises will also be planned to allow positive digression: sound writing while strolling, creative gymnastics or how to steer your story in a new direction, cooking workshop: if my story were a dish, what would it be, automatic writing exercises?
Individual writing sessions are sacred and predominant in the program, and Maison Saint Joseph offers a multitude of spaces to write in peace and serenity according to each individual’s needs.
