papier-mâché workshop with jean-paul fulanty
With :
Jean-Paul Fulanty
Date :
7th, 8th and 10th August 2026
Discovering that egg cartons and glue can be transformed into a sturdy, lightweight sculpture that is as strong as wood — that is what this workshop promises. Papier-mâché is an underrated material. Used for centuries by craftspeople and artists around the world, it is eco-friendly, inexpensive and offers unexpected creative possibilities. Jean-Paul Fulanty, a painter and sculptor with a keen interest in humble materials and their potential, will guide you over three mornings as you create your first sculpture from start to finish.
The 3 sessions are interlinked: each day corresponds to a stage in the creative process.
Day 1: Structuring and building up volume
Day 2: Modelling and shaping
Day 3: Finishing, painting and detailing
You’ll leave with a finished piece, created entirely by your own hands. All materials are provided. No experience is required; beginners are welcome. Each session ends with a shared lunch in the enclosed garden.
“Papier-mâché isn’t just a fun activity: it’s an artistic medium in its own right, as noble as stone or wood. Come and explore it with us!”

Jean-Paul Fulanty is a painter and sculptor who has lived in Crépy-en-Valois all his life and is deeply rooted in the cultural life of Crépy-en-Valois and the surrounding area. At the age of 15, he presented his first painting — an oil painting — to the public at an exhibition in the Crépy-en-Valois village hall. This precocious talent heralded a rich and varied artistic career. Over the years, he has created paintings, bas-reliefs and sculptures, exhibiting in Crépy-en-Valois, in the Oise department, as well as in Paris, Zell in Germany, Tunisia and Poland.
In November 2024, he exhibited five of these works in the lobby of Crépy-en-Valois Town Hall as part of the exhibition In Memory of Our Poilus. His sculptures, made from humble recycled materials — newspaper, egg cartons, metal coat hangers — pay tribute to the Poilus of 1914–1918. More recently, he presented a new series of fifteen sculptures on the theme of children’s games at the Étienne-Marie-de-La Hante care home.
