Naoile Ji, director and author, has been passionate about writing and audiovisual media since childhood. After earning a bachelor’s degree in history and a master’s degree in NGO management, she worked for more than 10 years in humanitarian aid and the social and solidarity economy. At the same time, she made her first documentaries and then, in 2018, decided to devote herself fully to writing (fiction, documentary, poetry). Self-taught, she gained experience in directing, editing, lighting and production. She has written and directed six short films and is currently developing her first feature film and an international co-production series.

Notable short-films :

  • Quand reviendra le Loriot (2021) : Festival Paris Court Devant selection – Best Actress award
  • Trek Salama, France 2 airing (2025) : Festival du Film de Grenoble and Cinémania Montréal International Festival selections
  • Take advantage of an environment conducive to freeing the imagination and enhancing concentration through achievable work goals and feedback from fellow resident authors (workshops/creative simulation/games) and potentially from a writing expert.
  • Benefit from a retreat in a pleasant and calm location, along with the organisation of the residency being taken care of.
  • Optimise your screenplay, book, graphic novel, etc.
  • Share convivial moments with other authors: meals, outings, and exchanges of author experiences.
  • Consolidate or create a lasting support and exchange network—team spirit, work opportunities, and sharing useful tips

We are passionate about supporting arts and artists, and our entire msj team has volunteered tirelessly to make the opening of this art residency a reality in 2024.  Our pricing reflects the true cost of running a young art residency that supports emerging artists, ensuring that everyone involved is fairly compensated for their expertise.  Our pricing reflects this commitment, covering artists’ fees and operational costs, thanks in part to the support of Maison Saint Joseph, which offers us favorable rates for room rentals. To successfully run each workshop, we require a minimum of participants. We’re confident in your support to help us bring this incredible program to life!
